Branch Social - Maidstone

Saturday 28 July 2018

A day out in Maidstone

A return visit to the County Town of Kent, a day out by train and hopefully being joined by members of other CAMRA branches on the day.

Train times:-

Horsham Dep: 0855.

Calls at Crawley (0908), Three Bridges (0913), arriving at Redhill at 0929.

Redhill Dep: 1000, calling at Edenbridge at 1016, arriving at Tonbridge at 1031.

Tonbridge Dep: 1104

Maidstone Barracks Arrive: 1134.

From here we walk the short distance to town, first stop will be the “Society Rooms” at 1145. We can use this Wetherspoons as a meet-up point and if anyone wants to eat and ensure they have blotting paper inside them, that’s fine. This pub is listed in the GBG, as are the following four. We can leave the “Society Rooms” at 1300 and the pubs to visit are as follows:-

“Flower Pot” (96 Sandling Road) Arr: 1315 Dep: 1445

“Rifle Volunteers” (28 Wyatt Street) Arr: 1500 Dep: 1600 (Goachers tied house)

“Olde Thirsty Pig” (4a Knightrider St) Arr: 1615 Dep: 1730

“Cellars Alehouse” (Buckland Road) Arr: 1740 Dep: who knows?!!

Of the above pubs, only the “Rifle Volunteers” doesn’t give CAMRA discounts, but it’s so cheap anyway why worry!

And if anyone wants any more fun:-

“Fisherman’s Arms” (40 Lower Stone Street)

Trains back from Maidstone West depart at 1928, 2028, 2128 to Tonbridge, for connecting trains to Redhill etc.
