There has been a pub on the site since 1793, the current building dates from 1911. This is a large pub originally being both a pub and hotel. It is a large pub on Queen Street on the south side of the town. The pub has a bar and in the past a restaurant area was added. Seating is provided for drinkers at the front of the pub which is popular in the warmer months. Live music including open-mic is a weekly event. Planning granted late 2014 for conversion of upper parts to flats with retention of PH; new application late 2018 for conversion of 'retained' PH to more flats. A Trojan Horse scheme.
